End of Summer

It is the end of summer here. Colder, crisper weather has finally moved in. It has been extra hot this summer and humid too. We've spent a lot of time outside this week enjoyin gthe fresh air before the rain starts for the year.

A lot of things have happened this summer. I'm still not working steady work, we've recently moved into my cousin's house in order to save money until I or Mike find something better. Even then we will stay here for the winter to save up some money.

Sophia is getting bigger everyday and is learning to walk. We bought her a walker and she runs all over the house all day in it. It's great because she can't get up the stairs and can't get into the cabnits. As I watch her mature (10 1/2 months now) it feels me with relief. It is so nice to see that she can entertain herself, start to feed herself and loves to talk and play. We are learning to eat big people food this month and it seems like she can never get enough to eat. All she does these days is grow. Every time I put her to bed she wakes up an inch taller it seems.

Other exciting thing that happened this summer was the birth of my new nephew. Yousef. He was born on October 1,2009 in Tripoli. Mashallah

My niece also turned one years old. WOW that's big!

One sad note of passing was a great lady I met here in Houston passed away on a trip back to Libya. Rhamat Allah. I hope she rests in peace after battling cervical cancer for three years. She never gave up hope or gave up fighting.

On the Move

Since I last wrote, we decided to move into my cousin's house to save up money to buy a house. My husband and I are working and this is a perfect opportunity.

My cousin's house is real nice and pretty large. There is a guest bedroom downstairs and we will clear out one of the girl's rooms for Sophia upstairs. We have stuff scattered all over the downstairs and in the garage. A lot of the stuff has to be re-sorted and sent to storage.

Today I worked on laundry, groceries and Sophia's room. My goal for tomorrow is to finish sophia's room and get our room cleared out. The day after that, I want to send everything leftover to storage.

It has only been three days and I am exhausted. My poor cousin.

Job Hunting

I had an interview with a placement agency today. They are the same agency that got me my last job so I thought that would be a good place to start. Shortly into the interview the lady realized that I was too qualified for the jobs they offer and told me she would keep her eyes open but recommended two other places I should register with . These other agencies work with oil companies and would have the type of work I was looking for. That I will do tomorrow. Despite registering with these agencies I will continue to search on-line for the "perfect" opportunity. I sit for a couple of hours a night filling out applications. Some of these applications take hours to complete. They ask for all your information in three different forms and ask for information I would be luck to remember on a good day. For example, when did you work for manager X (exact dates) and what did you do on a daily basis. Then they ask questions like, "How did that make you feel?". Then there is the 85 questions survey that is really a personality test. Who even looks at these? I just think I should get a call back just for the shear fact that I just sat for three hours filling in a 56 page application.

As far as I know most of the better opportunity jobs are already scheduled to be filled in internally. They only reason any of them are posted is because it is the law. But despite all this I have faith. I believe that Allah helps those who try to help them selves.
